Paving/Main Street Sidewalk Construction Update 06/11/20

PROJECT TYPE: Roadway

LOCATION: Beginning on VT Route 116 in Bristol near the intersection of Airport Road at mile marker 6.006 then running north for 1.230 miles and ending at Class I/State Highway limit at mile marker 7.263 in Bristol.

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

  • Day work and night work will continue next week on the project. Allowable night work hours are 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM per the contract for this project. Night work typically begins Sunday night through Thursday night (ending Friday morning).
  • Crews will continue installing curb and prepping sidewalk areas on the south sidewalk. Sidewalk work will be Tuesday night through Thursday night next week.
  • Roadway surface preparation and paving of shim will begin Monday night. Crews will begin work in the nighttime area at approximately 11:00 PM Monday. After paving shim in the night work area, paving will continue to progress easterly during the morning hours (Tuesday) until approximately 11:00 AM.
  • Parking restrictions in the downtown area will be put into place at approximately 8:00 PM on Monday after all businesses have closed for the day.
  • Surface preparation and paving of shim on the western portion of the project is currently scheduled to begin Wednesday.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

Expect alternating one-way traffic in the area of berm removal. Delays should be expected.

As part of Governor Scott’s “Work Smart, Stay Safe” order, all construction crews are currently subject to certain safety restrictions.
