Paving/Main Street Sidewalk Construction Update 06/18/20

DATE: Thursday, 6/18/20


LOCATION: Beginning on VT Route 116 in Bristol near the intersection of Airport Road at mile marker 6.006 then running north for 1.230 miles and ending at Class I/State Highway limit at mile marker 7.263 in Bristol.


  • Day work and night work will continue next week on the project. Allowable night work hours are 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM per the contract for this project. Night work typically begins Sunday night through Thursday night (ending Friday morning).
  • Night Work: Crews will continue installing curb and prepping sidewalk areas on the south sidewalk. Sidewalk and curb work will take place Sunday night through Thursday night next week (finish up Friday AM).
  • Day Work: A guardrail crew will be onsite installing guardrail in various locations throughout the project. This work will take place Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week (6/22-6/24). There is no day work currently scheduled in Bristol for Thursday and Friday next week.
  • Please be advised that the construction schedule is subject to change.


  • Roadway surface preparation has been completed.
  • Paving of shim layer of asphalt has been completed throughout the project. The shim layer (also referred to as the ‘leveling course’) is used to fill in low/deficient areas of the roadway prior to the final layer of asphalt. The shim layer is not the final product.
  • Temporary lines have been painted throughout the project.
  • Light poles in the downtown area are functional.


Expect alternating one-way traffic in the area of guardrail operations. Minor delays should be expected.

As part of Governor Scott’s “Work Smart, Stay Safe” order, all construction crews are currently subject to certain safety restrictions.
