🚧 Urgent Notice: West Street Slope Failure 🚧

May 18, 2025

Bristol Residents,

I am writing to inform you of a slope failure (landslide) that has occurred on West Street, directly across from Martin’s Hardware. This situation requires your immediate attention, especially if you regularly travel this route.

Assessment and Plan
Earlier today, Selectboard Chair Peeker Heffernan and Public Works Foreman Eric Cota conducted an on-site assessment of the slope failure. Due to the severity of the landslide and its close proximity to the road, they have determined that immediate action is necessary to ensure public safety and maintain access to our pedestrian-friendly village center.

Repair Timeline
Repair efforts will begin immediately on Monday morning, led by Peeker Heffernan working alongside our Public Works Department.

What This Means For You
– Traffic Impact: Please expect delays and possible detours on West Street beginning Monday
– Access to Businesses: Martin’s Hardware and other nearby businesses will remain open, though access may be temporarily adjusted
– Safety Concerns: Please avoid the area directly across from Martin’s Hardware and observe all posted safety barriers

This slope failure comes after our recent spring weather patterns and is being addressed swiftly to minimize disruption to our community’s daily activities and to ensure continued safe access to our downtown area for residents and visitors alike.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue promptly.

For any urgent questions or concerns, please contact the Town Office at (802) 453-2410.
