Bristol West Waterline Replacement: Water Main Tie-In Thursday, October 15
On Thursday, October 15, the crew will connect the new Pleasant Street water main to the existing main on North Street.
WATER SHUTOFF
Water will be off on Pleasant Street between Maple and North, and on Maple Street between Pine and Pleasant. The water department may add nearby blocks once it finalizes the valve plan. Affected homes will get a notice at the door beforehand with the times.
Please set aside the water you need for drinking and cooking before the crew starts.
ELM STREET AND TAYLOR AVENUE
Most homes should already be on the new main and won’t lose water. Any home not yet connected will be without water during the work and will be notified in advance.
BOIL WATER NOTICE
A boil water notice will be issued for the affected streets when the water comes back on. You’ll receive it by hand, and we’ll post here when it’s lifted.
TRAFFIC AND ACCESS
Pleasant Street will be closed to through traffic from Maple to North during the work. Residents can reach their driveways from the south end of Pleasant, and traffic control staff will be on site.
UPCOMING TIE-INS
Similar tie-ins are planned for the next two Thursdays: Liberty and Pleasant on October 22, and Maple and West on October 29. A separate notice will go out before each one.
PAVING
All streets in the project will be paved before winter.
WHEN WATER RETURNS
Air in the line is normal afterward, and running an outside faucet for a few minutes usually clears it. If your water isn’t back when you expect it, call us instead of waiting it out.
Questions or concerns can be directed to Greg Faust, Town Administrator, at TownAdmin@BristolVT.org or (802) 453-2410.
Thank you for your continued patience as we replace Bristol’s water infrastructure.
